BORDEAUX INVEST to present Cutting-edge Technologies to Hong Kong Investors

As the true economic capital of Asia, Hong Kong has already been a target of trade mission for Bordeaux Invest for a few years. Taking advantage of the Vinexpo Asia (held from 29 to 31 May 2012), the Bordeaux Invest will organise a luncheon meeting with the theme "Invest in Bordeaux Region: From the Greatest Wines in the World to the Most Advanced Technologies" to focus on introducing the attractiveness of the Bordeaux region to its attendees.
This event will be held on Thursday, May 31st, 2012 at the Hong Kong Science Park, and targets companies in the technology sector who have expressed interest in the European, and especially the French markets.
The Bordeaux region is renowned as a leader in various fields such as optics/photonics, Health IT, ASD, environmental technology and other important economic sectors of activity.
Bordeaux, the world's capital of wines with AOC label, is also recognised as a region with well-diversified sectors, which in particular include business activities with high technological content. Its dynamic and competitive regional offerings have attracted many foreign investors and position Bordeaux as a major region in terms of the facilities available to foreign companies. Bordeaux today is the region of France that is:
• No. 1 for public spending in R & D and innovation
• No. 1 for job creation over the period 2009 to 2012
• No. 1 for the creation of green jobs
• No. 1 in the field of Health IT
This initiative, which is carried out in partnership with the French Trade Commission Ubifrance in Hong Kong, will be accompanied by a direct marketing and trade mission representing the tertiary sector: banks, consulting firms, tour operators, company headquarters, etc. Bordeaux region has traditionally been recognised for centuries as a stronghold of various service-sector activities (banking, insurance, business services...)
Bordeaux Invest will also participate in business meetings held with various member companies of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Hong Kong. The Bordeaux region, with its proven technologies (Gertrude, Galileo, tramway systems) and with the organisation of the ITS World Congress in 2015, is well positioned as a leader in this sector.
