The Nanotech 250UPL is a compact ultra-precision CNC diamond turning lathe for the production of optical lenses, mirrors, mold inserts, and also freeform optics. If your applications fit within a 350mm diameter (with optional riser package) window, this machine may be the ideal solution for your ultra precision needs. The machine is designed for rapid diamond turning of both spherical and aspheric surfaces with nanometer level surface roughness and sub-micron form accuracies in a wide variety of materials. It has 200mm of travel on the X & Z axes and a standard swing capacity of 250mm. Optional B & C rotary axes allow simple expansion of the basic two axis lathe with up to 4 axes of continuous path motion. When fitted with C-axis motion control of the work spindle, toric, biconic, and freeform surfaces can also be machined "on-axis" via Slow Slide Servo (S3) machining.
The Nanotech 250UPL has a compact footprint of only 1.3 square meters with double sliding doors on the upper enclosure for easy access to the cutting area. It incorporates a natural granite base structure with a passive air isolation system and high stiffness box-way hydrostatic oil bearing slide ways with linear motor drives. The exclusive PI 5.5 groove-compensated air bearing work spindle provides motion accuracies of less than 12.5 nanometers throughout its 10,000 rpm speed range with a total liquid cooling option for long term stability. This ideal center mounted thrust plate work spindle has been designed for both heavy loads and high throughput. The PC based control system is powered by a Delta Tau Turbo PMAC2 motion controller with Windows XP front end & utilities. With sub-nanometer programming resolution and the industry''s first 0.034 nanometer feedback resolution, the Nanotech 250UPL is considered by many to be the most advanced compact diamond turning machine in the world.
