| XIRAN® resins

Our copolymers are truly random copolymers consisting of styrene and maleic anhydride and are sold under the brand name XIRAN® SZ. These transparent products have varying maleic anhydride content of 8- 42%, with a high Tg (100 to 165ºC). XIRAN® is highly appreciated in both engineering plastics and specialty chemicals applications due to the combination of the properties of styrene and maleic anhydride.
XIRAN® SZ grades can act as a versatile performance enhancer in engineering plastics applications, by offering increased thermal performance, adhesion improvement, outstanding dimensional properties and miscibility with a broad range of plastics.
In specialty chemicals applications XIRAN® SZ grades can be used as dispersing agents, epoxy cross-linking agents and sizing agents as well as for adhesion improvement in several applications due to the high reactivity of the maleic anhydride group.
XIRAN® IZ terpolymers add another layer to Polyscope's portfolio due to addition of N-phenylmaleimide (NPMI) included in the SMA polymer backbone. These terpolymers offer a higher glass transition than the XIRAN® SZ copolymers, with Tg reaching 177ºC. Compared to alternative technologies in the market, the XIRAN® IZ grades deliver a very high degree of efficiency by increasing the high heat performance of engineering plastic compounds at a lower additive level. |
